Johnny Loves June Vintage...and a little trip to the Farmers Market!

I've had the 10th of May in my Calendar for MONTHS! Mostly because it was World Lupus Day but also because it was the Johnny Loves June Vintage and Handmade Fair in Shoreham. Yey! I went to the Christmas one and found so so many goodies but I'd made a mistake - I'd seen something in the handmade section of someone's stall, decided to think about it, gone back and it was sold! Noooooo! Not this time haha.

Now, I'm always honest in my reviews and this is NOT a negative comment about the fair at all, it's more a comment on my personal difficulties with noise! The thing I love about this fair is the stage, they always have entertainment - last time I was there it was 3 lovely ladies singing like they were singing to the troops in the 50's, FABULOUS. And a lovely young lad singing Sinatra like a pro, Lovely. This time, My ultimate favourite, Jive! Jive dancing to some great music and I loved it, I did. But it was a lot louder than I remembered last time and sadly, with the Lupus brain fog and the music I couldn't really process anything. I got a bit panicked and that really did impact on my enjoyment. But looking around, people were loving it and the dancing was fantastic! I made the decision to whiz round, find what I was looking for and sadly, make a quick exit.

There really were some fantastic things, So many beautiful clothes and brooches especially that caught my eye but none in a colour or style for me today. Matt and I decided that the furniture with the vintage world maps were DEFINITELY the kind of thing we want in the future, they really were beautiful pieces. We tried some lovely Peach Chutney, which was really yummy but I just couldn't think what I'd eat it with (now I've had time to think, a Cheese Ploughman's would be the perfect thing, swap the Pickle for Peach Chutney, Yum!). It didn't take long for me to find what I was looking for, The mini bunting drew me over and sure enough, the thing's I'd overlooked before Christmas were there. Not the exact ones, obviously but the style. A lovely lipstick case for my handbag with a little clasp covered in fabric from 1970's curtains - I love it! and I got a little pin, made from Polymer clay, The cast used to make it was taken from a Vintage button and I love the little Chrysanthemum flower. I chose a soft Pinky/Peach colour (my new favourite colour!). I really wanted to try and find a Sage Green Polka Dot scarf that Kipper & Bow had posted on Facebook but I couldn't see it, Sad Kimberley. The search continues.

Very, Very pleased with my purchases I made a quick pit stop to pick up Doily Days Wedding Magazine. Matt and I aren't engaged (yet, Nudge nudge) but I do love this little magazine, I've picked up all 3 issues (it's published twice a year) and I love the little features and articles and the adverts have helped me find lots of other lovely vintage and retro places. It's also given me Wedding ideas because, lets be honest, every girl thinks about her wedding!

All in all, we really weren't there long. I had wanted tea and cake at the pop up tea shop but sadly, my fuzzy brain wasn't going to let me sit in that room while the music was on. I had a lovely time, I really love my little purchases and it's always so nice to see people enjoying the Vintage Atmosphere. I have to say, I much prefer the smaller fairs like this one and Belles Events because they make much more of an effort to create atmosphere and the sellers are all so lovely!

We left and made a bee-line for the Farmers Market. We tried some really gorgeous Balsamic Vinegar from Pinch Seasoning's who are based in Brighton and I was sold! So yummy. We also tried some Lemon Oil and Roasted Garlic Oil from a lovely place called Stratta out in Eastbourne and I would happily have bought the lot and lived off bread for days!

So, a nice day out on what was possibly the most Windy day of the year, nearly got blown off my feet! Looking forward to the next Vintage Fair in my Diary!
